    It's actually hubby that's most interested in getting a roo. :) As the only male in the household, I think he's hoping for an ally! LOL!     Hello, Newbie here. :) We'll be setting up our first flock in a couple of weeks. The existing coop is only about 4x5 feet. We're thinking 3 or 4 hens plus a roo. Will that be too small a number of hens to have with a roo? Thanks! Michelle in Idaho

    Hello! We're about to move onto our new property. One thing that concerns us is that we have this fantastic retention pond that we will pump our irrigation water from. There are wild ducks, a heron, quail and with the hawks I see flying nearby, they probably use the pond for hydration, too...

    So glad to have found BYC - what an awesome resource for newbies! :) We're moving onto our new (12.5 acre) property in a couple weeks. There is an existing small (about 4x5 feet ) coop & chain link run. We're wanting to get started right away and will plan on 4 or 5 chickens to begin with...
