Thank you, my girls looked cold fluffed out, they were huddled together, standing by the back door, until it got about 25F then they did their normal free ranging in the yard. I'm trying to let them be chickens. Ur it's hard!!
Do you let girls out in this cold temps in Texas? I can see mine were cold this morning after being out. They went in hen house to lay but came back out. I made them warm oatmeal and warmed their water. Should they be put up in hen house?
My hen is molting and doing the same thing, she cant walk without falling. She gets tired but when a wake pretty perky, red comb and waffle, interested in eating but cant stand long enough to really eat. She wants to groom herself but she cant otherwise she falls. Does that sound like what you...
Good morning Texas,
I've been all over the emerency section looking for help. I have a year old hen that has been molting. She has been by herself for the last few days and chased away from the food bowl but I've tried to give her food separate from them. On Friday started staggering unable to...
This is probably a stupid question but when you say capsule do you mean you dlute it? Or actually stick it down the chickens throat???? I just can't imagine there mouth being big enough.
Thanks in advance!
I only have 4 chickens, I'm not sure what they have because they do not have the other symptoms only sneezing but a history of cough and rales, Im really struggling, I think I'd prefer to not get anymore chickens until they meet their own demise, is there something I'm not thinking about?
Well my story sounds way too familiar...I'm new to owning chickens, we got 3 pullets this summer and added 2 from the same person a month later but this time the buff was sick, rattling, wet cough, the reputable urban rancher gave antibiotics and said she will be fine, we also got a light Sussex...
I'm sorry for your loss, we only had her 2 weeks, she was 4 months old. It's just upsetting to have something in your care and you feel like you didn't do the right thing. Thank you for the support..
Thank you she passed last night. I just didn't know what else to do for her. We did the mist, fan, frozen treats, little water bath and we gave 2-3 sources of cool fresh water.
My Buff won't move this evening, she has had drooping wings and some panting, she will either lay or stand but in the same spot, it's 103 degrees, what should I do?
