    Our leghorn is now dead. Another chicken died three days ago of what we thought was natural causes due to old age however, with the second death so soon thereafter we are now worried that it is in fact a contagious disease. Any ideas?

    One lone duck

    so sorry to hear that happened! we have two runner ducks, both female, and the larger blue runner duck does the same thing to the smaller fawn runner duck (Clever), getting on top of her in the pond. fortunately, Clever has never been hurt.

    thanks for the link @Miss Lydia and ideas @chickens really! it didn't look like a meat spot. it was a discoloration of ~ 1/8 of the egg white in a blob that stuck to the shell. hopefully it won't happen again but if it does we'll be sure to get a photo.
