rural king chicks always die at a higher rate - fyi chick are like any other livestock buy from a reputable place or try to buy local that shipping his hard on them

chicks 🐥 need 14 hrs of light 💡 to lay
get a coop light but don’t run it 24/7 .... they will get fussy. add a few hours a week and build them up to 14 hrs
i also keep good and water in my coop so they can eat as soon as they wake up ... all my RIR are laying about 26 hrs or so
i agree light weight and full feathers equal flight. clip the wings and heavy them up a little with crop grit oyster shell and protein rich foods... they flew the coop- then get a real run with a top to ward off hawk and owl attacks
