I writing again hoping to bump up this post up and get some more advice. I watched some youtube videos and read other posts on chicken bullying and quite a few suggested to separate the bully from the flock for a few days but still within the run/coop area, so they can see the flock but cannot...
That's a great suggestion, thank you. I've added some clutter and it seems my bsl is able to get away from my glw a little more often than before. It's not perfect, but I hope after the hormones level out they can go back to being somewhat civil to one another. The goal would be friends once...
Thanks for your reply.
We switched them from grower to layer feed about a week before my first girl started laying and they have free choice bins of grit and oyster shell. They get to free range 1-2 hours a day and we have them in a moving pen/chicken tractor setup, so they always have fresh...
Update:
We did end up trying the pinless peepers and they worked for about two days before our game fowl became just as aggressive as before. They unfortunately did not work for her and she was still very easily able to chase down my pullets even with these blinders on. We have since re-homed...
I have three pullets, a silver laced wyandotte (slw), a golden laced wyandotte (glw), and a black sex link (bsl). All three of these girls just started laying in the last week. They were hatched in February and were purchased from the store together and raised in the same brooder together since...
1-ish year old gamefowl hen mix needs a good home. She flew into our yard randomly just before Christmas last year and none of our neighbors have claimed her. We got some more pullets so she could have friends and the integration has not gone well. She thinks she owns our entire yard and that...
Thank you for the response.
We have a mobile setup for all the girls, to keep them on fresh grass as much as possible so their areas move a lot. The older hen has the wooden mobile chicken tractor that she sleeps and lays in and we use temporary fencing to give her little alleys/strips of grass...
Thank you for the response and reassurance. I figured some more time is what would most likely be needed, but I was unsure at what age they'd be able to stand up for themselves. They'll be 17 weeks soon enough and I'll give it another go.
This may be unnecessary, but I feel the need to give some background on the issues I'm having.
Just before Christmas of 2024, we had a lone hen fly into our backyard. I asked all our immediate neighbors if she belonged to them, and no one seemed to have any idea where she came from. We...
