Baby finch first aid (approx 2 weeks old, severe heat exposure)

Sorry for the slow reply, it's been hard to check on them since they're so high up. I've been keeping an eye out below the nest and hadn't seen any jumpers so I was hopeful. Then just now I was working in the barn and heard a ruckus of finch chick chirping. I stuck my head out and spotted the...

Glad to know the scent won't be an issue. I'll try to check on them in the morning, but the nest is pretty high up so I won't be able to see in very well. I could barely reach to get the chicks back into the nest!

Thanks for all your help! The two larger ones never let me feed them, but the temperature is starting to improve so I put them back in their nest. Unfortunately I could only reach one of the two nests so all three had to go in that one and I'm crossing my fingers that the parents accept them all...

The newcomer has let me feed him twice now which is good because he's the smallest/youngest one. However the two oldest still steadfastly refuse to open their beaks... They otherwise seem ok and keep climbing up the walls of the box and nesting material and occasionally cheeping so I'll just...

Well, we're up to three finch chicks... Another one climbed out of the same nest that the second one had come from. The newcomer was still doing the open beaked panting thing when I picked him up so I fed him about 0.5ml and his crop looks medium full so I'm leaving him alone for now while he...

Even my pinkie finger would be too big. They're so tiny!... Plus, I can't seem to get their beaks open in the first place at the moment.

I'm not sure I understand how to "pinch the beak open". I've tried to pinch from the sides and the break didn't seem to open at all. I also tried pulling the break open with my fingers but I didn't have finger nails so couldn't get a hold on the edge of the beak. I even tried using a thin piece...

I made them a little nest out of paper towels and put them both in there, but they still won't open their mouths... I'm worried that they might be too shocked/dehydrated to eat...

They both had their mouths open when I first picked them up, like maybe they were hungry or just panting to cool down. Now I've tried tapping on the nest like I saw on finch feeding videos but they aren't opening their mouths...

Both had open eyes when I picked them up and one squawked at me.

Here's a photo of the two of them in their box and a close up of one for more detail. Just about to try feeding.

Ok, oat gruel made and cooling briefly in the fridge since it's boiling hot at the moment. Consistency is similar to pouring cream. I've found a 3cc syringe and washed it thoroughly. How much should I give them? How often should I feed them? Thank you so much!

Thank you so much! I have oats. What consistency should I be aiming for? Also, I'm guessing it's better to cook the oats in water rather than milk given they aren't mammals?

House finches love nesting in the U-beams that support the roof overhang around our metal barn. With the recent West Coast heatwave the chicks have been getting baked by the hot sun on the roof just inches over their heads which is also directly conducted into the metal U-beam that their nest is...

    No internal pip day 23

Just FYI, it didn't make it :(. I finally decided to assist last night (end of day 25) and followed the assist instructions to open up the aircell end of the shell. No movement from the chick. No visible vessels in the membrane. Confirmed deceased chick after pealing away the membrane. No...
