    Hello, BackYard Chickens

Ooof. So it seems like there's a dichotomy at play here for a guard avian choice. "Super African" Goose - Read that they get attached more to other geese and less with chickens. I'm also considering The Buff due to this, but it might just be an inherent problem with mixing flocks. Turkeys -...

    Hello, BackYard Chickens

I've also been considering the more affordable option of Turkeys for guard animals. Been reading, and I like what I see. Somewhat less noisy, and I do like how badly some of them want the smoke. Some of them get protective over people, and I'd like to see that extend to a flock of tiny chickens...

    Hello, BackYard Chickens

There's a pair of Border Collies ripping around the property usually, so I'm hoping that they'll keep the predator attempts to a minimum, Super African geese as a deterrent and the Dogs as the solution. Their instincts are pretty great for the job at hand, so I'm excited to see what they can do...

    Hello, BackYard Chickens

I've been looking around and it seems like the options for geese are varied- but Super African Geese seem to stand out in size.

    Hello, BackYard Chickens

Good to find a good place to learn. Interested in starting a free range flock of Seramas, but I'm trying to figure out a good bodyguard companion bird that will (help) deter the occasional hawk or eagle. They don't seem  that expensive to start, though the shallow birthrate is distressing. I'm...
