    Hands on hatching and help

All is well. Chirpy is strong and healthy this morning and was joined last night by egg #3 about 10 pm. So technically 4 healthy cheeps counting the oldest one. All solid blue, no splash. There is one egg that was less developed that may yet hatch. Luckily only the one needed an assist and he...

    Hands on hatching and help

Egg 2 had zipped and was out when we got back but no change with #1. Guessing he has some shrink wrapping happening, I started pealing the layers back. There still seemed to be some blood so left him half in, but completely free to kick the rest off when he is ready. Now 28 hrs from ex pip...

It has been 24 hours for egg one and not much change still, but chirping still. Off to a 4H MTG and then I think I will need to assist it if no change after.

    Hands on hatching and help

About 6pm and 9pm and now a 3rd pip about noon today-it is hard to notice so may have been there longer. I'll add water dishes. The first one is chirping some. Not much going on with the others all day. None of them rocking. I cracked a little more open on chirpy, but noticed blood so stopped.

Oh, they are blue splash silkies. 1st one is blue and seems healthy but might be weaker than he should have been at 1st but good now. The humidity is only 40%.

I'd been afraid and had been watching. 8am still on, 12:00 found cold eggs, put under diff sorta broody hen. 1:30 again cold and abandoned. One piped ex., 2 others chirping. I quickly set up a brooder box. Difficulty but...

Help. keep finding dead chicks in nest.

Very sad day. Her final chick, 7 days old, was given back to her last night. Mom and chick seemed content this morning and my daughter checked on her several times and said they were happy. Just got home and it died too. I think she loves them to death and smothers them. She was alone-no one...

Thanks, I am going to try and get a couple chicks at a swap this weekend and give it to her with a couple more separated from the other hen and see if it works finally.

Yeah, either one might be The problem. I'm trying to decide if removing the other hen is enough or if mom hurt them. Last Peep is OK for now in the bator.

Help. keep finding dead chicks in nest.

Been lurking a long time and just tried hatching with many difficulties. Incubator made it to day18 and the 4 eggs quit. Second attempt lost power 2X but was luckily able to put some under a hen that went broody the day B4. Her 1st try-a 13 mo. Splash silkie. Everything went well. 1st hatched...
