    Roost height

My roots are about 4.5 feet high above their poop board which is 34 inches high. My head are three months old and do just fine getting on the roost. Funny story...one night we couldn't find 2 hens, after looking everywhere we looked up and they were roosting on top of the door which is a...

Using Shredded Paper for Coop Litter - As Good As Wood Chips?

If any of the paper or cardboard has ink on it, I would seriously avoid it. Some inks are carsonogenic, once the paper decomposed you're still mixing ink into your soil. If it's too hot or cold their instincts will naturally take them in and out of the coop so I wouldn't worry much. As for cold weather in the winter months you'll want to close all the windows and the door during...

    Wet concrete floor

From the looks of the floor you've got cracks and heaving going on so it's probably a thin layer of concrete. If your weather stays wet so will the floor, thus you will get mold in the straw. You can stave off the action of wicking to the surface by using a concrete sealer. One brand comes to...

    Watery egg whites

Thank you for this info. I've bookmarked this for future reference. I don't like watery egg whites either. I'm new to chickens and mine aren't ready to lay yet. I want to make sure my ladies are completely happy and healthy ☺️

Crazy, funny, sweet stories of your chickens!!!!!! ❤️

We are new to chickens as well. Our first funny episode was this evening. My husband goes out to check the chickens for the night. Comes back to me and says we're missing 2 chickens. We go out to look again looking everywhere but up high 🤣😅😂 they are roosting on top of the door

    Brooder box roof?

As long as the top has a good slant to it that will keep everyone from getting up on it.
