Thank for replying. They have been laying for just over a month now.
They get plenty of veg, mix corn and layers pellets..I have read somewhere that food high in beta carotene helps to yellow the feet and beak.
Just a quick question from all you lovely experts... I have some beautiful cream crested legbars which I brought a few months ago and they had bright yellow legs but now they lost all that yellow colour and are like pink and faintly light yellow colour.
Is there a way I can brighten their feet...
From Birmingham UK. I just sold my chicken flock and looking to start growing quails and hoping to hatch more chickens for the summer. Truly awesome site.. always someone here to help... like one big family.
Unfortunantly Your sand will sink to the bottom and get moist. Once that happens, it will become breeding ground for germs. If you can keep the sand dry, then it will work. Chopped straw should work On a dirt floor, if you put a 1ft layer and keep topping it after a few months. Throw some grains...
I use 20kg compressed bail.. I added the photo of the one I currently use.
I wanted to experiment with coco coir.
5kg block expands to 70 litres once a bit of water is added.
I found wood chips are not very ubsorbant and i dont have access to dry leaves. Crushed hemp worked really well for me and was very cheap over time. Do you use deep litter method in your coop?
