It was! She is back to her old self and the growth has gone away. She was on the meds for 20 days. We think she got canker from exposure to our son's pet doves which the chicken likes to visit. Left to her own devices She always seems to end up near them. Good luck with your birds.
Yes they did give her Metronidazole. She's in isolation being a house chicken for now. Vet said it was early in the infection so fingers crossed she'll be fine. After a check on the flock tonight it looks like no one else is showing any signs. But they will be getting copper cocktails anyway...
OK I really need to wear my glasses when I'm typing.. That was pretty bad.. We ended up taking her to the vet today because she started mouth breathing and the vet has put her on we're on a antibiotic and said that she had little patches in her throat kind of like strip throat the vet thinks it...
I just xhecked. There is nothing there niw but maybe there was in the past and this is a healing injury .good observation!
Normal mistly. Just a but of birt tgazmt i could wipe off the inside if her mourh o. The wonky side.
Our 8 year old D'uccke hen has a swelling/growth on the side of her mouth. Has anyone seem anything like this before? She still eats and drinks normally.the first pic is the normal side the other is the growth.
Poor girl. Yeast infections are no fun. I never even heard of this until today. We've had chickens for 10 years and never seen anything like it. I'll get her nystatin on the way home tonight.
