Had a sow that came through my property all year long when she wasn't hibernating; sometimes with cubs, sometimes not. Her sign/claw marks were all around us.One year she left claw marks on the tree above my wolf's house. Didn't bother Moon. We never bothered the bear. She never ever attacked...
My Easter Eggers have always been very different from each other, but the things they have always had in common are the green legs, like Goldy, and puffs on the sides of their faces.
Easter Eggers being sort of mutts, all tend to look a bit different from each other. I like that about them. They turn out to be a surprise. They have beautiful eggs and good dispositions.
I still prefer the PVC feeder. It can be upside down candy cane shaped with the long pipe running up the outside of the pen or with it running inside the pen with an offshoot through the pen fence to fill. At chicken's bedtime, cap both the top loading opening and the bottom feeder opening. No...
To my knowledge, a poisonous snake does not have poison in it's body. The poison sacks are in the snakes head behind it's fangs. As for not feeding meat to chickens; I've always given the carcass from the Holiday bird or roasted chicken to my flock. They will clean it down to the bone. I've also...
I bought an inexpensive, very large rice strainer from an Asian food store. Fill a large coffee can about 1/3 full of wheat, soak over night and then spread in strainer. Watch it sprout and grow. Soon it will be about 2-3 inches tall. I pull it out and feed it to my chickens.
So if you can put the sulfur dust in..can you add some permethrin dust also as a preventative? Or would that be dangerous to them. I've never had a mite issue, but I think I've just been lucky.
PVC feeders, like an upside down candy cane, in the outside run. Goes through the fencing from outside. Pour feed in and cap. At night when birds are in..cap inside opening so mice don't get in. Water in buckets with auto-water cups. No feed or water in coop. Less mess.
I like the PVC pipe for feeding my chickens. They are on the outside of the run with the bottom openings through the fencing and inside the run. I fill it from outside and replace the cap. At night when my chickens are in, I cap the opening inside to keep the mice etc. out of the feed in the...
No one has mentioned "dubbing" as it pertains to showing. I'd never heard the term before and had to look it up. The young teen doing it (youtube) said it had to be done in order to show. My first thought was how barbaric, and the second was what a stupid and evil rule. Was the kid right? Has...
I believe birds, of all sorts, are much more curious than cats. I lived in an old miners cabin high in the Rockies for a long time. It was partially burmed in and there were huge ravens that would walk along the path and look in on me from time to time. I welcomed their visits and always felt...
