Limping Hen No Signs of Injuries

She is not being bullied. I'd rather not isolate her if not necessary. They get pretty stressed out when they are separated. No vet or x rays. Not to be harsh, but a chicken just isn't worth a vet bill of almost any size. That's why I'm here. I have a 2 level roost. The first level is...

Limping Hen No Signs of Injuries

I have a hen, 6 months old and she was limping the last couple of days. Today she will hardly put weight on it at all. I've checked her feet and legs and there are no signs of bumps, cuts, or bruises. All that I notice is that her ankle seems larger than the other when I feel it. It must be...

    Chicken Struggling After Passing Egg

She did recover and started laying regularly. However not she has developed pendulous crop and stopped. It seems she may be a weak bird from bad stock. Sometimes all you can do is what you can do.

    Chicken blind in one eye

My chicken's eye infection did heal. Once I removed the pus cap everything went smoothly. I rinsed with a saline solution and applied triple antibiotic ointment. Unfortunately her eye is permanently blind likely from my attempt at removal and not the infection. I have to chalk it up to...

    Waterer Design Problem-Seeking Scientist :)

I might try the float valve since there is confirmation it can work in a gravity feed situation. Right now I just turn the valve in the morning to fill it up. At least I only have to fill the 15 gallon container every couple of weeks. I hate toting water. Its the 21st century. That should...

    Chicken Struggling After Passing Egg

I'm happy to report she was on her feet this morning. She seems a little wobbly but is eating and drinking. I'll be watching her for her next egg.

I have looked at those but I was not able to determine if they work with a gravity feed system. There won't be much water pressure. I don't have water at my coop.

    Chicken Struggling After Passing Egg

Thank you for that. It seems this is the issue. The question is the severity. It just started minutes before she passed the egg. I have a some questions. If there is an egg that is stuck or being held will another egg form behind it or is that function turned off until it passes? In this...

    Chicken Struggling After Passing Egg

Since taking this video she has moved to the other milk crate. It seems to be mostly her right leg though I think they both may be affected.

    Chicken Struggling After Passing Egg

I have a 21 week old barred rock. She was doing this weird thing with her backend letting it pulsate constantly. Otherwise she was perfectly normal. I was watching her because I suspected egg binding. I am new to chickens and have never seen it before. I was just going off what I had picked...

    Pullet's Pulsating Posterior

Well in every other way is she is perfectly normal. I did not feel an egg when I probed her. But she is definitely getting ready. Thanks for your input.

    Pullet's Pulsating Posterior

Excellent suggestion...but I wouldn't know what I am inspecting. I did look at it. It looked like well, her girl stuff. Nothing looked abnormal to me. But I really need some instruction. :)
