Brown egg layers going on strike?

Oh, our new hens are separate from the older ones. And there are no feathers laying around so I bet it's the heat. We'll see what happens in the fall.

Brown egg layers going on strike?

I want to jump in here. Hope that is okay. I have brown egg layers who have quit laying too for about 8-10 weeks now. Let me just clarify what it isn't...no predators/no stress/no molting/no diet change/no coop changes/no new chickens. The only thing changed is their egg production. This is...

I don't see bugs and none of the other chickens are suffering. What could this be and what do I do to remedy it. Her breastplate is also featherless and red. This happened last summer after her molt. I worry with this years molt coming she will get worse. Any suggestions? Sue

No roosters. And this began when she molted last summer. I have used the cure all spray, but it doesn't work.

A way to cure a broody hen

I have Sussex that will sit for hours on an empty nest and leaves having laid no egg. She is basically a dog with feathers.

    Do hens have cycles lol?

Hi Christina, It must take a while because I have two chickens that have forgot what their job is. I have an Australorp that hasn't laid in over two months and is a year old. I have Sussex-a year old that lays once a week, but she thinks she is doing something on a regular basis. She will sit...

    empty nests

I am inclined to think it is the crazy heat. I will see over the next couple of days if we see some changes from the upper 90s to the 70s. This is Colorado front range weather.

    First Time Chicken Person!!!

Our feed store told us the same thing 6 months, but they didn't start laying until 9 months. Our frustration now is that we went from getting five eggs consistently a day down to one or two. That is really frustrating. Well good luck and be patient. It will happen. Sue
