Looks like you got a lot of answers while I was writing.
I believe you can treat simultaneously. Or more accurately, a lot of people on BYC seem to because it is often unclear whether the cause of bloody poop is worms and cocci
Well that definitely looks like a round worm!
Piperazine in water is the usual “immediate” treatment around here
Or ivermectin or Fenbendazole also
And usually the whole flock is treated.
I use Ivermectin prophylactically 2x year (spring and fall). Administer drops on back of neck. Easy at...
Great that you’ve identified the afflicted hen and that she’s improving. Chicken health issues can be a mystery with few vets willing or knowledgeable enough to examine or treat (at least in my area)
BYC is great place to poke around for solutions.
Good luck!!
I haven’t seen mention of bloody poops that are related to “normal” intestinal shedding.
New chicken owners often get a shock seeing red bloody stuff in poop. Of course if it’s bright red spatters (we all know blood) then the treatments suggested here make sense. But if it’s red and mucous-like...
I have been looking for more information on the impact of cold/frostbite and scaly leg mites.
I know this post is old but it sounds similar to what my little Golden Campine "Miss Kravitz" is going through. We've had a very hard winter and there has been a few spots of frostbite including one...
Good news is that both rooster and hen appear to have recovered completely.
They are back in general population. Now that the warm weather is here hopefully they will continue to be strong and stay healthy. And will have to wait and see what happens next winter...
Thanks all who responded to...
Thank you for your suggestions!
Both afflicted rooster and hen seem to be holding their own, eating drinking and walking.
Eastwood laid an egg yesterday. They will continue with Tylan and heat and isolation for a while I guess until symptom free and the warm weather arrives for good. I have to...
Thank you FW - I have read everything I can on CRD and MG over the last few months.
The affected hen was up and walking around this morning as was the rooster who appears to be improving.
I have never quarantined new birds before - it's clearly the smartest thing to do.
Have read the thread...
I just saw your post now.
I am so sorry for you and your little Silkie
Silkies are prone to "crookneck" - when their heads twist back towards their body, that might have been of her illness?

1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Ameraucana hen @ 3 years old, about 5lb. One of my first hens! Her name is Eastwood.
No apparent weight loss, not bony - not visibly ruffled, hunched or disheveled
2) What is the behavior...
