My DH found a pet safe weed killer recipe online. It's 1 gallon of vinegar, 1 cup of salt, and 1 teaspoon of dishsoap. Mix together and put in a spray bottle. It works pretty well.
I have 2 hens that are a year old and 6 chicks that are between 7-10 weeks. Is it okay to start letting the younger ones free range? The 2 older hens have been free ranging since they were around 8-10 weeks old.
I bought my bantams at Ochselan's. They come from Estes Hatchery in Springfield, MO. They had a sign in front of the cage that listed the breeds then could be.
Our 2 older hens are named:
Blackie
Red
The chicks are:
Elizabeth
Camilla
Daisy
Raven
Lulu (Jersey Giant chick- my DH's chick)
Andre (Jersey Giant chick- my DH's chick)
The ones that have died were named:
Snow
Calissa
Brownie
I do! I have a tote in our entryway with 6 chicks in it right now. The oldest one is about 2 weeks old and the youngest ones are not quite a week old. I like having them in the house at this age to be able to tend to them better.

Well I bought them from Orshlens (sorry about the spelling) and they get theirs from Estes Hatchery. They have the different breeds of bantams listed and they are :Black Cochin, B.B. Red Old English, Buff Cochin, Frizzle, Golden Seabright, Millie Fleur, Partridge Cochin, Porcelain...
That's too bad about your shipment. I used to live in Bancroft, IA (when Welp's is) and my grandma lives there. I actually rented a storage unit from them for a short while. It seems strange that they would ship you some from a hatchery in New Mexico. Especially since New Mexico is farther away...
I have 6 chicks (1 production red, 3 bantams, and 2 jersey giants). One of the bantams keeps getting pasty butt. I'm not sure of the particular breed. It's brown with feathers on its feet. I was just wondering if it's something that certain breeds get more than others.
We got 4 chicks last spring and 2 of them were Polish (a hen and a rooster). The kids adored the hen until she got eaten by something. The rooster was fine for a while until he started trying to attack us. He got rehomed and died within a few weeks. I think they're very pretty but I'm not...
I just got rid of our rooster last week. He was a Polish and would try to chase my youngest son who is almost 18 months old. I'm thankful that I found someone that wanted him. I made sure to tell the person exactly how he was acting. They told me he's getting along just fine with their flock (9...
