Another 'Cockerel needs a home' post, Barnyard Mix, Fresno, CA

Sweet 9 week old cockerel, Barnyard Mix hatched here, carried around daily. Wish we could keep, but we are in the city.

Is my sweet chick definitely a cockerel?

    Barnyard mix now 8 weeks.

    4 weeks, barnyard mixes. Thoughts?

6 Weeks old: update. Two of the most puller looking girls went to a neighbor last week. So I now have these two mixes and two SLW (although one SLW does not have a rose comb? TSC chicks sold as pullets)

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

How are they doing with the rain?? Everything go smoothly? I’m hoping to throw mine outside next week, they’re driving me nuts!

Do you think the chicks can go outside fulltime??

Hey, another Cali flock here so I feel your pain. This year’s littles are only at 4-5 weeks, but we keep throwing them outside in the chick pen every time the rain stops for more than an hour (mostly so the big girls can see them), then bringing em back in at night. As long as you’re feeling...

    4 weeks, barnyard mixes. Thoughts?

Number 1: Number 2: Number 3: Number 4: total wingnut, haven’t been able to get it to stand still yet. Two of these are supposed to go to a neighbor, but we live in the city so no Roos allowed. Hoping to catch any before they start crowing… 😆

    What kind of Wyandotte?

The feathers growing in are def black and white, so the forum is spot on. 🙌🏼

    My dog and chickens

Go very slowly, start with your aussie on leash and under command. I'm assuming your dog knows basic commands like 'leave it'. While she's on leash, use high value treats to reward her for 'ignoring' the chickens. The goal is to get her relaxed and not focused on them. I used the leash time to...

Still no eggs... Are we wrong?

Both look like girls to me, and my girls have much larger comb/wattles. Mine took awhile to get going (25ish weeks), but I just blamed the weird weather and various stresses. Patience, grasshopper.

How do you get your chicks to grow up to be lap chickens?!

This is EXACTLY how we do it, too! No forcing or grabbing chicks just lots of hanging out and treats for seeking us out.
