We are attempting to remove the kernel from a chicken with Bumblefoot, but I’m but I’m not finding it, and I’ve pressed hard, soaked, etc. I can see white stringy stuff that seems attached inside the hole. Is this flesh or infection? I didn’t want to pull on it because I thought it was flesh...
Final report : Marek’s. And these chickens were vaccinated from a reputable hatchery. The report recommended vaccinations for the remaining chickens, but I’ve no idea on vaccinating adults against Marek’s. I’ve read that doesn’t help. Any suggestions? We are deep cleaning the coop and...
Well, I’m not sure. I have some 7 month olds with very foamy yellow poop. It seems like something is up. They are acting, eating, and drinking fine, but foamy yellow poop isn’t normal. I lean toward worming vs coccidia, but maybe someone here has better insight. The DE question was theoretical...
I know chickens can swallow capsules. So, what are opinions on putting diatomaceous earth in capsules and using it as a wormer? I know you can put it in food, as I have food grade DE.
Would this be too concentrated?
In theory it seems like a good idea, but….
Here is a report I just received from the necropsy. I don’t know what it means as far as pointing to a certain disease, but the chicken obviously had some issues.
Purina layer crumbles and free range feeding. No treats.
No Marek’s. We have had one hen go down similarly a few years ago and we treated with vitamin b complex, selenium, and vit e. She recovered.
Crop is empty. Have not dewormed. Her poop looks fairly normal.
No necropsy.
We are having an issue with our chickens, so it seems. We had one go down two weeks ago. A new layer, so not egg bound. We found her laying on the ground, weak. Sometimes she would stand and sometimes not. She did have some sort of wound to her wing. But it felt hot, so I assumed infection. She...
This was the size and dosage of mine. I purchased the B and E at Dollar General. The hens can swallow them easily. I never had an issue opening up her beak and putting it in there.
This saved my “paralyzed” hen. She was unable to use her legs. She could only kind of kick them and flail about. She was weak and didn’t eat much at all until I started the vitamins.
This was a quote from my thread. @azygous helped me save my hen. I stuck to the regimen for 4 weeks and my hen...
