My Rhode Island Red never seemed to recover from molting last fall. For a while I thought she was just taking a long time, and then maybe she was getting pecked, although I never see it happening. I’ve checked several times all over and haven’t ever seen any mites on her. I ran across...
I also never see her in a nesting box whereas I see the others all the time (work from home so am around a lot). Also her comb/wattles are pale and have been for a long time
I have a black sex link that was one of my most reliable layers all last spring into summer (her first laying season) but when it got really hot around late August she stopped laying. I figured that was normal heading into fall but she still hasn’t started up again going into May. I thought...

Not that this answers your question exactly but you mention the concern of your hen sitting for 5 weeks potentially.
For anyone who contributed, I decided to go for it and if she ended up breaking being broody on her own then so be it. And if I thought she seemed unhealthy I would stop the...
I have an Easter Egger that has been broody about 28 days. I assumed (my first time dealing with this) that after about this amount of time she would give up but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I take her out into the yard about once a day to be with the flock and she’ll graze and drink water...
Thank you. Here’s an updated picture. It’s deeper than I thought but not bleeding today and so looks a little improved. We have her separated and have put neosporin on twice since I posted yesterday. Think this looks treatable?
Any advice welcome here. I saw this morning one of our chickens has a wound on her head. I assume I should put Neosporin or Blue Kote on it but we are leaving town in two days for a long weekend. I don’t know if separation is realistic since we are leaving. By the way we have 5 hens in our flock...
