BTW snake in avatar is a ringer for many I have pulled out of our henhouse. When I get one I bring it to the patio and make it endure terrifying scrutiny by our housecats, who are very interested in them.
Low intensity, low management, practical backyard chix keeper. Only have three hens. They get table scraps and grains mostly. Try to let them out of pen to forage in 5-acre woodlot daily for variable periods. They really damage our extensive landscape plantings, so have to ride herd on them...
I have a fall greens patch that has been attacked by cabbage worms, so I dusted with BTK, brand name Dipel, which is supposed to be a "natural" insecticide, that kills bugs but not me.
Can I feed leaves thus dusted that have been picked off of broccoli to my chix?
