    ISO Blue wheaten amaracuana

We had a big storm come through and knock the power out while I was at work. The incubator got down to 72 degrees. I will have to reset some eggs for you as soon as the power comes back on. Sorry for the delay.

I can put some in today, but it will be Memorial Day Weekend before they are ready. Just let me know if that will work for you and you can pick them up.

    Wheaten Ameraucana egg color question

This^^^ True Wheaten Ameraucana eggs are blue. They can be very light blue/almost white late in the laying season, but they will never be brown.

Dirty shipped eggs arrived. What to do?

Great to hear. I actually had one of my Wheaten Ameraucana eggs that I had washed before setting had a crack in it. I taped it up and hoped. It is pipped now and should be out when I wake up in the morning. I wash everything I set now.

    hiding eggs

I shut mine in the coop when they are getting close to laying. Then keep them in there for a couple weeks after they start, so they get used to laying in the boxes. Once they start laying consistently in the boxes I let them out to free range. Haven't had any problems with them laying outside...

    Unbelievabley unlucky hatch!

My wife and kids won’t allow it. Plus I do want to keep 2 of them for my flock if I manage to hatch some females next time. So I will grow them out some and keep the best 2 specimens. I may actually be able to use another over some of my brown egg layers (for OE) since I had to put down a SLWD...

    Unbelievabley unlucky hatch!

That is highly possible, I will make sure that doesn’t happen again. Along with getting them from another breeder. Thank you for the information.

    Unbelievabley unlucky hatch!

Here are 4 of them, the other 2 are still drying off in the hatcher. 1. 2. 3. 4.

    Unbelievabley unlucky hatch!

They are autosex. I have all pale colored with white/yellow dots on their heads. No “chipmunk” stripes

    Unbelievabley unlucky hatch!

Got 12 Cream Legbar hatching eggs from Omega Hills Farm. They were great, 10 made it to lockdown. Only 6 managed to hatch, but ALL 6 are male. I was going to start a flock with this hatch, but now I have to get another batch. Also have to find something to do with the extra cockerels.

Dirty shipped eggs arrived. What to do?

Don't think I would put washed under a broody, because you remove the bloom and expose it. For clean incubators though, I think it helps tremendously. In my experience anyway.

Dirty shipped eggs arrived. What to do?

I am finishing up a hatch of 12 BCM and 12 Cream Legbars shipped. I washed them all with warm water and soap, then a quick dip in warm water with a teaspoon of bleach. I had 9 of the BCM and 10 of the Legbars make it to lockdown. So far I have 6 legbar and 6 BCM chicks out with several more...
