I guess I responded too fast!
We are out of town and our daughter is watching the house and feeding animals. She walked across a large black snake in our basement garage. She called her mom and asked if I had a fake snake, then it moved. It went to hide and she went to the top of the water...
Here in Tennessee we have a few poisioness snakes. A good black will kill them, so we don't kill them if we can help it. I would put the chicks in their roost at night and closes them. They will eat small chicks and eggs and cane scare the stuffins out of you. :ep
Your Blount Co. neighbor.
An old neighbor got a couple of rubber snakes and put around where they came in! We moved before I could find out if they worked or not. He was worried about some type of germ the chicks were not used to.:)
Grandpa alway said "As I have gone thru life's highways and byways, I soon realized that there were more horses asses then there were horses."
Good luck!:he
I have seen a number on this sight but it looks smaller than I would want! Remember you may fall in love with more chicks sometime so don't build too small. It gets WARM there but may get too cold in winner. Tale an old quilt and you can close off as much of the coop in winter as you need...
Looks your Head Plans are pretty good. I like to cover any hold with 1/4 inch hardware cloth , it's a stronger wire than " chicken wire" . Everything likes to eat chicken and you don't want to walk into the coop and find a snake :(
