I had my Malays in with a mixed flock before I moved them to their own coop as well. One of the cockerels became best buds with a little psychotic Cochin Bantam Frizzle cockerel that was his roommate. Now he's constantly trying to escape so he can get back to the pen with his little buddy. Kinda...
Your blue wheaten girl is gorgeous! I guess I have a girl with an attitude then, which is pretty much what I thought anyway. That second pic was of the boy that we were unsure of his breed... Malay or Shamo. I had ordered Malay eggs, and he's what hatched from them.
The the two Indo Gigante...
Thoughts on this anyone? I believe this was supposed to be a female Malay, but it's taller than all the others, has some blue markings coming through, and acting more like a roo. However the tail seems more female. Thoughts?? Second pic is an updated one of the "questionable" boy. Ignore his pen...
Your birds are looking beautiful! Mine are coming along nicely too. Moved them out into my breeder Shed, with the exception of the "questionable" one. Took some updated pics of it today, so you can see what it looks like now at 7 weeks old.
I usually drive up there a couple times a year, but haven't visited since Covid hit. Really missing the kids and grandbabies. They all love mid-way between Port Huron and Detroit. MS is Multiple Sclerosis. Yes, I still have the "odd" Malay roo. Still not sure about him though, and don't really...
Not immediately. I only need one roo, and shipping it from Ohio to Texas probably wouldn't be a good idea. If I end up being able to take my Michigan trip to visit the kids and grandbabies, I might try to meet up with DV and see if he has any. That was my original plan to begin with. I had 3...
Gorgeous!! Mine are growing like weeds.
I had an extremely unfortunate mishap last night though. Went to change their water and the little roo jumped out of the brooder... right as hubby let our two big dogs inside. Needless to say, I'm now "roo-less" 😭😭😭
Yep, it's Malay. Breeder is Acadiana Aviaries in Louisiana. I have another batch in the incubator. Lockdown will be the 19th. Hoping for a better hatch this time around.
