Wow! I love this website so much! We had a hen that was just grabbed by a Hawk yesterday, and her neck looks the same! We thought she was going to die then and there! Thought her neck was broken and she was gasping. Well she didn’t die...we were going to cull her, but I came here to...
I purchased one light Brahma which is supposed to be sexed female, however, I think Poulette is a rooster! And out of the 17 chicks we got she’s the only one I named, lol...I let my kids name them all. Anyway, she hates being handled and I’ve read how sweet brahmas are. We hatched some Roos...
Yes! Keep me posted. I live in Southern California unfortunately (too many rules), but fortunately (love the weather). And it seems amo can only get shipped eggs... closest for me is northern Cali or Texas for they Lavendar a i would like. Keep
Me posted of your hatch rate.
Thanks for all the replies....I want to try hatching again in a few months..so any tips are great. Wanted to try to get some Ameraucana eggs this time...I heard they can be finicky.
I noticed the head tuck, and that one looked like it was just about to pop through into the air sac. How do I adjust humidity knowing that 3 hatched as is? I would think adjust it down maybe 5% on the next go around and leave at 100-degrees?
Hatched 3 successful healthy strong chicks on day 21, left 2 last ones in until tonight, day 25. I gently piped into the air sac first to look for movement, and listen for chirping..but nothing. One looks like it was just about to pip into air sac (1st 4 pics), the other looked same as first...
Temperature is at 99.5 in a forced air incubator. Humidity between 63-70 during lockdown. Confirmed temps with a separate calibrated hygrometer and thermometer too. I only incubated the questionable ones on day 18.
So a third one hatched...named Chirpy! It amazes me how quickly and matter of fact kids are able to pick names....it took us months and months to pick our own kids names!
I have 2 more eggs that look iffy, now it’s day 24. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me and may see movement but I...
First time incubating. These were shipped eggs. 3 super healthy chicks hatched so far..2 on day 21 and 1 on day 21-1/2. There are two left in incubator. Tonight is day 24. I’ve attached some pics and video and can’t tell if my eyes are playing tricks on me...but I think one is moving...
First time incubating, and today the first 2 hatched!!! We are so excited. My kids named them Cuaquito, and Lexie.
I’m already looking for another set of fertile eggs to hatch...wish I had a higher hatch rate..started with 22, and only 5...and an iffy 6th looked good at day 18.
Soooo...
So. Day 18..and this egg was not viable, so cracked it open. It was a very large egg. Looks like it quit around day 7? Correct me if I’m wrong...this is my first time incubating. But...do you think it was a double yolker. See pics..one is definitely an embryo, but then I found...
