We have this area that goes down to the water which at the trees so the hens have the run of the whole area great for keeping the weeds away but we can't let them back down yet we have a smaller area where the house and feed are up the top of the hill but it's not as good for them
Hi we have lost 4 hens recently I did find a pile of feathers next to the river we live beside which our hens have access to and I had guessed it was probably an otter I've had to keep them shut in our smaller section which isn't great but don't want to let them out until it's a bit safer any...
Hi our Muscovy drake has started to bite one of our young Muscovys wings at nights in the coup it’s happened 3 times this week the youngster comes out with bloody wings he’s around 6 months old is this normal how can we stop it?
Ok thanks for the info we were told she was a magpie and with her being black I presumed she was but I don’t know much about breeds eggs were definitely nearer the 40 days so makes sense now
They don’t seem to have any other illness I recently made a bigger house for them I have a bale of straw I use for bedding and stick down some chainsaw saw dust on the floor maybe that could be the problem?
We were told when we got them this one was a magpie do you think it’s a Muscovy? It looks a lot different to the male and female Muscovys we have as well
Hi some of our hens have started sneezing a bit how worrying is this? I’ve had some natural remedies I orders to put in their water but hasn’t really helped yet and ive been disinfecting the house for a while is there any other remedies I could use?
Thanks I was thinking not to expect a full hatching when only 4 from 9 hatched last time and we only have one survivor from our first brood a crow went off with one first week and we think an otter killed 2 next to the burn we live beside so only 1 left hopefully have more luck if some of these...
our Muscovy was sitting on 9 eggs last time but only 4 hatched our magpie is sitting on 13 or 14 just now is it normal for a few not to hatch or do they normally all manage to hatch?
She’s probably been sitting for around 30 days I candled them recently and they looked fine still a clear air pocket and the one that she kicked out I opened to see how far on it was and it was maybe 3/4 formed possibly so I’m hoping if they are going to hatch it will be soon
Thanks for your reply if they are laid by a magpie but the drakes a Muscovy I was just wondering if they would take longer to hatch than a regular magpie clutch as it’s becoming concerning that they haven’t hatched yet she’s sitting on 13 so it’ll be a shame if maybe because the nights are...
Hi we have a Muscovy drake and a female magpie the magpie is sitting on a clutch just now and it has seemed a lot longer than the suggested hatching times I’m wondering if they will take longer to hatch as she mated with a Muscovy?
She had kicked an egg out last week which I opened and the...
