What color phase is this Bobwhite?

As far as they are concerned those quail are Mexican speckled. Haha. I am in the heart of Mennonite/Amish land and there are countless auctions where “breeds” and color phase are not always accurate.

What color phase is this Bobwhite?

I bought 2 bobwhite at the feed mill today, they were in a bin of mixed Mexican speckled and snowflake. I liked them because they are dark but I’m not sure what this color would be? I tried to research and the closest I found was Tennessee red but these are more blackish. They almost remind me...

    Pansy Fee Breeding Group

Thank you for the info! I have a back up project now, or one I can do in comparison to the group of pansy fee hens I have now. I have a small group of pastels I am going to try to maintain to keep the fee gene.

    Pansy Fee Breeding Group

Thanks for the reply! I have plenty of grau fee males and some spare female Italians, so I may try that, just to play around. I suppose I would need to then introduce the fee gene with those offspring, to get more of a pansy fee?

    Pansy Fee Breeding Group

Hello Everyone! I recently hatched a mix of SSC and Pansy Fee from Myshire Farm. They really take care with packaging and have great customer relations. Anyways, I really like the Pansy Fee, from what I can tell I ended up with what looks like 6 Pansy fee hens and about 7 roos. I also had some...

    New GQF, Quail on Lockdown!!

Final count was 190/202 eggs. I am beyond impressed with the new GQF. That’s my best hatch rate ever, with winter eggs no less. I could tell at least 6-7 different colors from pharaoh, white, Italian, Tibetan dark and light, tuxedo, silver, and some look like maybe pastel? I’m unfamiliar with...

    New GQF, Quail on Lockdown!!

In my old still air it would hover around 30% but that could be faulty readings due in part to the old hydrometer. The GQF has a fan, and that may have something to do with it, but without water the humidity was around 15%. Too dry

    New GQF, Quail on Lockdown!!

That's a great idea. Thanks for the input. I've actually done better with the dry method in the past with hatching quail eggs.

    New GQF, Quail on Lockdown!!

Hi everyone, I finally committed and bought a GQF 1502 this year. It was really close between that and the Dickey model. I plan on starting over with quail this year, and plan on hatching a lot! I bought about 22 doz quail eggs at an auction a couple weeks back. To my surprise there were about...

A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Figured maybe I'd hop on here since I'm still somewhat new to the turkey scene. We've always had at least a turkey or two hanging with the chicken flock while growing up. Since I moved out last year I mostly started over with the "flock" as my mother grew too attached to most of my birds for me...

    broody turkey hen

All 4 of my yearling hens were laying machines this year. 3/4 of my Hens went broody and stopped laying, around that same time the 4th stopped laying (only about 1 egg every 3-4 days now). Funny enough today is hatch day. All 3 hens nested on top of each other and have about 20 some eggs they...

    Rabbit Breed ID?

Would this be consistent with the Argente Brun? This is the same rabbit 1 week apart.

    Rabbit Breed ID?

Also I found this, https://bharabbitry.weebly.com/color-transformation.html and the rabbit appeared very similar in terms of marking during the 6 week pic when I got it to now the 8 week pic where it has spread from the cheeks/chest to even back behind the shoulder. Very cool!

    Rabbit Breed ID?

The silvering is definitely spreading out, especially on the male rabbit. Thank you very much for your help!

    Rabbit Breed ID?

Thank you for your reply! I am unsure on exact age but they are beginning to act like they want to breed. The 2 in question seem to be slightly smaller than the rest. I'm not sure if it's due to a difference in breed/age, although they are supposed to be litter mates. The splotches of white...
