That would explain why she's the only one that has missing feathers/bald spots! No other hens in my coop have any spots at all on them. But her bum is so red, it looks irritated. :(
I thought my hen was going through a molt (I'm a newer chicken keeper) but now I am suspicious it's a bug. I think I found a llice (louse?) on one of my silkies but I can't find live bugs on any of my chickens and she is the only one that is losing feathers/bald spots. Does this look like...
Do you think you'll have some of these eggs available in April? I live in Cincinnati, OH and would love to buy some of your hatching eggs but I will be out of town too much this month to hatch them.
My mom is starting her first flock. She bought a trio of Gold Wyandottes that are about 6 months old and then from another man she bought 1 Barnvelder hen that is about 7 months old. It has been a couple of weeks now that she has integrated them all together, but the Barnvelder seems to run...
My BO's lay a pretty dark brown egg that is much larger than the eggs in the picture. I never would have believed it if I hadn't caught each bird laying at one point. Chickens are amazing! I'll try to get a picture of the eggs my BO lay and my marans. They are gorgeous.
UPDATE! Those in the photo are in fact, Silver Seabright eggs!!! I can't imagine an egg that large coming out a tiny bird like them, but I caught them laying so no denying it now. They are actually VERY good layers. All of my girls are now laying and I have caught all of them except my...
I think they have gotten just a little bit larger now but not much...some of them are getting darker, too.
I am nearly certain the BO on the far right is one of them laying. I have 2 laying now because I get 2 eggs every other day. Also, this might sound silly but when I go to pet her she...
Thank you! I do have 2 silkies but they aren't in the same coop and they are far too young to be laying. I guess it has to be the BO's! I wonder how small Seabright eggs are. They are in the same coop with the BO's and have been hanging around the laid eggs.
