I am really pleased with my transaction with @Thespoiledchicken . The eggs were packaged really well and only a couple didn't develop out of the 12+ that were sent. Unfortunately I had an incubator problem late in my hatch, so I ended up with only one survivor. I did eggtopsy the rest of my...
I suspect the "I'll pass" is because it sounds like you have high demands for a backyard breeder project which came out as a bit demanding and borderline rude. She already has a waiting game list for eggs (I waited for almost a year) and can easily choose to have pleasant customers. ;)
Simons Family Chickens in Pasco has some serama, polish and silkie crosses. She occasionally has seramas, but I don't think she's seen much demand for them.
Simons Family Chickens on Facebook is in the TriCities hatches quite a few chicks. I think she has some olive eggers right now and will have black copper marans in a few weeks.

I'll definitely post an update. :)
I'm really glad I had an existing coop that I was replacing. If I was trying to figure out where to keep chicks that had grown out, I would be panicked.
P.S. Cute newt!
As far as I've read, they can live to around 6 to 7 years, or longer. I've had the same thoughts on how to maintain egg numbers within the flock. And egg production can depend a lot on the breed. I have a marans that is 3 and lays 4-5 eggs almost every week during the summer. But I haven't...
