    Membrane blocking egg

I research a veterinarians website who volunteered some safe pain relief solutions. At least to relieve her pain and inflammation in the effected area (vent area). If the tissue calms down and the swelling subsides, perhaps the egg may pass at last 🤔

I see what you mean about pain in a chicken. So, chickens try to avoid showing signs of pain to avoid appearing weak and susceptible to attack. A kind of instinctual habit👍 I got it. Thank you

Help! Egg Bound Pullet struggling to get her first egg out

I think the bath is soothing. The calcium supplements seem important now that the hen is starting to lay. I crumbled up a pill and gave some to my hen. She had some. You can open her beak and put a piece or two in there and she will chew it. I haven't tried a whole pill, so not sure how well...

    Membrane blocking egg

Yes, thank you. I've tried several times to see if I could see the egg. But gently swiping my finger around with oil. But it's all pink membrane. It may be more like a prolapse event by now Or like she may push out egg and her own tissue which is a prolapse, I believe. I don't know if birds can...

    Membrane blocking egg

I also wonder about signs of pain? I read being lethargic, like anyone, right🤔 Isolating, eyes closing and hiding I saw once in a video. That hen didn't make it. The owner discovered it too late.😞 Minimizing action reduces the likelihood of aggravating pain, in my experience. Perhaps she's...

    Membrane blocking egg

Do you know how much tablet to give? I had broken up one in pieces and she ate a few pieces. Can you please suggest how to give a chicken a pill? That's new😊

    Membrane blocking egg

Yes, I had put quite a bit on her favorite food this morning. I had kale, oyster shells, nutritious commercial food in her quarantine area a few days. But, I can see today she is eating up the seeds and larva with the calcium powder on them. These pics may give clearer view of the bulge. This...

    Membrane blocking egg

I had read about the short window of opportunity for saving the hen 1-2 days. She's doing ok because (I believe) she is still passing poop, too. A bit runny of course. But it's passing. I think the toxicity is the danger? Also, I've treated area frequently with olive oil to reduce inflammation...

    Membrane blocking egg

Hi all, My Copper Buff Orpington has an egg stuck. It's her first. The vent is opening but there's a pinkish membrane covering the golfball sized mass. It feels like an egg because its pretty firm not an organ which may be soft and mushy. I've done the epsom salt bathes, but the membrane is...

    Using Sound To Repel Predators

Great question! It's possible what mammals can hear and what predators can hear differ. Since humans can't hear it, let's hope the manufacturers can produce some good research. At best it works as quickly as it claims on mammals, without too much adverse effects on chicken behavior. Perhaps...
