Well yes it won't protect the other ladies from disease, but I could use it to protect the injured (picked on, attacked by preditor,etc) from the rest.

Has anyone tried building a setup like this...
putting a roost with the sand poo catch on top.
row or two of nesting boxes
brooder pen / quarantine area at the bottom.
Also anyone have luck with the buckets...

I've almost always had a few ducks living with my chickens.
I actually prefer the duck eggs to chicken eggs. Anyway, I haven't noticed any issues between the chickens and the ducks.

Hey all.
In the last few months all of my chickens have taken to roosting in a nearby bush instead of inside the coop. Coop is clean, warm, dark. And thy have a nice roost 2x4s laying flat, though some roost on the nesting box (it's a bit higher up.)
Any ideas why they have decided to go outside?
