Had a sprinkle of rain yesterday but not enough. Leaves are starting to fall and change color. Poor showing of color this year due to drought. White pelicans have been migrating. I see them on the river. -

Canning story. Way back 40s and 50s and into early 70s mom used open kettle method for tomatoes. A no longer used method. She said when she was pregnant all her canned tomatoes spoiled. Carburetor for stringer came in the mail late yesterday. Put it on this morning and runs great. Hard to beat $9 repair. -

Picked 2 persimmons yesterday and still a little pucker. Let them ripen more indoors. Meader variety. Can be seedless but a few seeds sometimes. Produces a few male flowers. No wild ones in my area. -

Often store tomatoes are greenhouse raised. Parthenocarpy is preferred for greenhouse growing. No pollination worries. Still pollination occurs but they do not want to take chances.
