    Should I Wait?...

Well they hatched August 6th so... almost 3 months? Yeah they’ll be 3 months next Friday. If it helps, I did a quick little experiment and opened the coop. I put food right at the opening on both sides and they all ate together. She’d occasionally look up at them but go back to eating. But one...

    Should I Wait?...

Ok so this is gonna be a bit of a long one so apologies in advance. I had two flocks before (was watching a rooster and hen for someone else And they took them back so i was only left with one) apparently I live in an area where you’re not allowed to have roosters (even though you hear like 20...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

I forgot to mention she’s been trying to stand and uses her wing to balance while stands with one leg. You can see her trying to put pressure on her right leg though but it’s still seems too hurt I’m confident she’ll recover completely and be back to her old self in no time. Just sucks because...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

Well I came in to check on her. I’m keeping her in my garage right now. I’m changing the “bedding” of her milk carton nest. She’s drinking on her own (making a mess but still drinking) Her crop is still full of food. So I’m not worried about that part really unless she gets a sour stomach or...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

Tbh I’m not the best with confrontations mostly because I have a very short fuse. The neighbors have a wall in the back yard but the dog still jumps out daily. She’s never been an issue before and we have a pitbull that she plays with but yeah It’s too dark for my camera to take pictures of...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

So once again thank you to everyone but things have taken a bad turn for the past three days my hen has been practically at 100% back to get old adventurous ways and what not. I got a small coop for her to be in outside during the day so she can bask in the sun, eat grass and hunt for bugs...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

I will try that Thank you And she doesn’t let me try to open her other eye. If anything I can try putting saline on it like the other one, that’s how I got her current eye open but yeah we’ll see if it helps

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

I want to say thank you to everyone who’s contributed and helped me my hen is making a strong recovery. She’s able to eat and drink on her own now, I fear she might be blind in one eye now since she hasn’t seemed to open it since the attack and it’s not swelled anymore. However her appetite...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

I smelled it after spraying it on my hand. It does have a light odor but it’s nothing as strong as bleach also it’s safe for animals to consume in case they lick it off. Which is probably why it has electrolyzed water in it

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

the Black part at the top of her head is the wound where the rooster ripped her skin off and her skull was showing. He also pecked into the sides of her face but with the medicine I’ve been spraying it’s been healing up nicely. Just waiting to see her other eye open up and her feathers to grow...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

@wyrop rock so the attack happened on Sunday or Monday I inserted photos of her wounds that are still healing. They stopped bleeding the same day and I had them bandaged and wrapped up until 2 days ago when I used a home made saline solution to help her with her eye (and to remove the bandage...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

Thank you, I looked it up but can’t seem to find anything on that specifically. She’s a barred rock chicken. I did see that most chickens can go 3-4 days without food and I have tried on the first and second day of her injury to mash up strawberries and mix it with water to give to her. Because...

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

Is there any recipe that’s proven to work. Do I even need to worry? I hear people talking about yogurt and other things mixed but I also read about how you’re not supposed to give them dairy and other people saying yogurt makes them sick....

    Injured hen (approx. 10months)

I want to add I cleaned the wound and placed a medicine that was recommended to me called “Vetericyn plus” and wrapped her head up with gauze and already did a change in the gauze. She stopped bleeding on the first day as well just concerned since her crop seems flat and she rather sleep all...
