Missing chicken and one dead *I describe the body I found*

Poor baby! She looks so sweet and content. We have yet to rescue a chicken after an attack. I am so glad she is safe and well.

Missing chicken and one dead *I describe the body I found*

Sorry I did not include the strange fact that raccoons also are known to only eat one small part of the chicken (such as the head).

Missing chicken and one dead *I describe the body I found*

Sounds like a raccoon. Those things can get into anything that is not padlocked. They often tear the feathers out in piles in different places then take the body elsewhere to eat. Oh yes. I grew up on a ranch in Arizona. 45 minute commute = 50 miles. Here 45 minute commute = 5 miles. Crazy!

    Rehoming our girls

Not far. Still staying in Seattle, but the new landlord is iffy about chickens and that may cause future problems and hard feelings. Not sure how the new neighbors would respond either. I like to butter people up before introducing the girls and we don't have the time.

    Amount of feed?

What type of feed are you giving them? When we gave our girls mixed seeds they only ate a little and littered the ground with the rest. We eventually went to a standard feed that they cannot pick apart.

    Rehoming our girls

I have three lovely chickens that are just 2 years old. 2 easter eggers and a golden link. We are in the process of moving and a raccoon has found us. Too much going on for the girls and we don't want them hurt. We live in Seattle. Thank you everyone!

Hello everyone! Another chicken lover is joining the flock! Also downsizing due to a move, so if anyone in Seattle is interested in 2 year old laying hens I have a couple of easter eggers (lays blue and light pink) and a golden link (lays large light brown). Super excited to jump in on the...
