    I did it today! I just got some new hens and there egg shells arent as hard as what im used to. And the egg was still very warm

    If you can put bricks in, they should help to retain heat if the power goes out. You sholdnt have a prblem introducing chicks that young, so you should be good. I personally dont think it matters evens vs odds

    Alternatives to wood shavings?

    I use the wood pellets and shredded newspaper in addition to small flake shavings. Sand is going in the new big coop
