Possible Cockatiel Mating? Birds are acting strange...

Because they can doesn't mean the should. They are at a much higher risk at that age. You do you but the recommended age is 2 years.

Possible Cockatiel Mating? Birds are acting strange...

Yea, 9 months is not mature for a female Tiel, 2 years for a female. Good call waiting, egg binding is a serious concern in young birds. Correct

What did you do with your flock today?

I built a new platform and perches for my outside run and gave 12 silkies a bath/blowdry/dust bath because I found lice on my crossbeak😥🤢 also cleaned and dusted their whole area with DE. Wondering now if that is why I lost two chicks last week randomly. Good times. Here are a few of my birds...

Possible Cockatiel Mating? Birds are acting strange...

Has the shift in Behavior been since they have been separated? Generally cockatiels go through what I like to call the teenage phase and they tend to come out of it when they get a little bit older usually between a year-and-a-half and two years they start to come out of it and come more into...

HELP needed with breeding budgies( My budgies won't breed after many months!!!) Im dissapointed and exausted of waiting.

Budgies shouldn't breed until over a year. Even IF they are wanting to, which they probably won't, it can cause issues with your hen and they are less likely to succeasfully raise chicks. I have a lot of experience with breeding budgies, cockatiels and lovebirds. They will breed if and when they...

Stinging nettle is really good! The barbs need to be rubbed off or it needs to be dried or cooked for people to eat it or else yes it burns.

    Let me see those coops

Thank you! I live in Nova Scotia so it wouldn't get as hot as you are probably used to but I wanted them to be well shaded in the summer and offer some shelter in the winter from where the winds blow off the mountain:)

    coccidiosis in chicks canada

This is good to know (and what I came looking for). Of course it is a holiday weekend and none of the feed stores around me have had medicated feed. Someone had a suspiscious looking poo today so I want to head it off asap. Thanks!

Anyone want to make a guess?

Update: he is indeed a cockeral, and from the look of him and what was in the flock he came from I think his parents were her cochin and black copper marans. Not that it really matters, I was just curious. He is feathering out to be handsome and he is still quite a bit bigger then the others.
