    My family also thinks I lost my mind!! I was afraid of birds too as my grandmothers parakeet used to chase us kids around the house when I was young! I love my girls tho!!

    I lost my first chick. She was 5 weeks old. It is unclear to me what happened. She was just all of a sudden fluffed up and lethargic seeming on Sunday morning. I checked her over and there was no outward telltale. She died sometime today after I left for work. How are you supposed to guess...

    Training chickens to go in at night...

    Thank you for asking this! My flock is hopefully going to the coop this coming weekend! I am concerned that it will be more difficult with them out of the brooder that is conveniently in my attached garage! My girls love meal worms and the light is a great suggestion! Thanks to all!

    Semi-Newbie from Northern Vermont

    Welcome I am also from Vermont and just started my flock last week. Ordered 6 from our farm supply and ended up getting 2 more 2 days later! I also chose a Wyandotte..a Golden Laced.

    I have checked out the learning center and what a great place to learn! I printed the list of what not to feed and I have been checking out the coops as well so I can get it right the first time!
