Hi
I had two clutches of eggs hatch within 48 hours of each other.
One hen is doing a great job but the other hen killed her babies apart from 2 chicks. I took the remaining two inside and had them under a brooder for two weeks.
I’d like them to be outside now and I am wondering if I can...
I have a Serama Roo in with a silkie and Brahma hen. Both hens are broody and sitting on eggs. Is it possible the eggs are fertilised - I think he would need a step ladder to make it work! 🤣
Hello
I’ve had to separate one of my roosters from the others as he’s turned into a total bully! I was going to keep him in a large fruit cage (with the raspberries!). It’s relatively secure but a fox could dig under if it chose to. (That’s our only real predator here) I was thinking if I made...
No she’s a pretty young hen. We have only ever hatched with an incubator inside. We have never had any broody hens. I’m quite excited now! I’d love her to have her babies!!!
Oh I really hope that’s it! I was worried she was ill. I’d be so happy! Can a Serema roo breed with a silkie? Also it’s winter and they are outside, is it too cold for chicks?! Thank you so much for replying xxx
My silkie hen is behaving strangely. She won’t get out of her nest box. When I go near her she squarks. If I pick her up and move her she won’t stand and stays sitting. She will then eventually walk but goes straight back to her nest box. She has an egg under her. I’ve carried her to food and...
Our beautiful boy died this am. He was a 4 year old Brahma. Does anyone know what might have happened?
Weak for over a week.
Pale.
Lethargic.
Fluffed up.
No discharge/no legions/ no diarrhoea.
Eating and drinking well.
Very very thin. (I didnt know this intill I picked him up to check him...
He was in the middle of the footpath path near fields - I scared off a crow that I think may have dropped him and waited by him for 30 mins and no other birds about. He was very cold but perked up when he warmed up
We recently suddenly lost a chick and now we have another that looks ill.
The first chick died at 3 days old. It went very cold, lethargic and has watery poo. It had spraddle foot as well.
We now have another chick that seems very wobbly and has a red swollen area under it. I’ll attach a photo...
My 3 day old silky is dying. She’s cold to the touch (under the heater still), lying on the floor, watery poo and gasping. She had what I thought was straddle leg and I braced her legs with the straw/tape method. She just suddenly went down hill very fast last night.
I think she’s too far gone...
