Little One is 15 weeks old. He hasn't started crowing yet. So far his personality is what I would want for a rooster/cockerel, so hopefully that will continue as he matures
Bonnie and Lois are about the same age but possibly 1-2 weeks older
This will probably be the last update on this...
Visited an art and craft fair today and found a beautiful chicken art piece. I love it so much! Figured others on here would appreciate it as much as I do
The artist does have an Etsy shop called ArtfulGlassArt in case anyone is interested
Ya'll. I did it again. I fell for one of my chickens cute little faces and got pecked on my gums. All because I smiled at her while holding her.
The culprit:
Don't let that innocent face fool you. She will peck your teeth and will definitely do it again given the opportunity.
This isn't the...
The babies are handling the colder nights well (40F). They're about 10-11 weeks old now.
I think I have to accept that Little One is a little rooster 🐓 very red and large comb and wattles. I think I even see his saddle feathers starting to look pointy
I let them out for a while with the big...
I have 32 total turkeys, ducks, and chickens divided into 7 pens. Only noticed the bumps in 2 pens right now. Do you know where the best place to get the vaccine is?
So now I have a turkey hen who has some bumpy scabs. She's the only one in her pen with them. She has at least five of them. Is this fowl pox or something else? I can try to get clearer pictures once I have some help, even with treats she was not having it
Leia's bumps maybe look a little...
I noticed a few bumps on two of my chickens (both are 6 years old). They are in a pen with one other chicken, a duck, and a turkey who all do not have any scabs or bumps. None of my other birds in other coops have any bumps/scabs either (with the exception of one, but I think it is a pecking...
Thank you. I'm sure it'll be a few weeks before they settle down (mostly Creme), but I've got a backup pen they can move into worst case scenario
She was definitely saying some choice words not appropriate for little chicken ears! 😂
Let the babies out for a while outside the last few days. Creme Brulee was not impressed.
I set them up something inside to stay in while they're getting used to each other. The hens are refusing to go inside with the babies in there. Creme Brulee came inside for a little while to yell at...
Little One is 5 weeks old, the other two somewhere around 6-7 weeks.
Also, Lois the EE has the cutest crest!
They'll be going outside more permanently starting next week.
In the meantime, I've been taking them outside during the day for short adventures
In the transport box
They got a...
Just an update: Daisy Duck did not go broody in the spring, and she ended up developing an ear infection in the summer (which she has fully recovered from thankfully), so she did not receive babies this year. We will have to see what she does next spring, and I will update then
