Day old silkies
I usually mix in a Chick Boost. It's a probiotic and electrolyte combo. Most feed stores have it and it gives them a little extra energy and a boost to the immune system. Not necessary of course but a good addition.- jgiorgi

Funniest chicken names
Lucy, Roadkill, 10-Piece and Queen are my hens. Lucy and Roadkill are gold sex-links. Roadkill was named because she was always trying to kill herself. 10-Piece is fat and Queen tries to rule everythng and everyone.- jgiorgi

This is ours. Simple setup from stuff we had laying around. What you see is a 4' by 2' dog crate with a 10 gallon aquarium turned on it's side. Old rooster - young pullets
Good to know I'm not sure if I have enough room in the coop for a dozen hens but I could expand it. The big problem is I simply don't have room to keep the rooster and the pullets separate. Old rooster - young pullets
I have a coop setup on some remote property and 4 chicks 1-3 weeks old in a brooder. I want a rooster so that I can eventually hatch a few chicks for a sustainable flock.
