    SWAT? what is that? I am a terrible chicken keeper :( but I have seen their amazing healing powers .... honestly, I think it was the smell of their wounds that first brought whatever preditor around ... this flock had been attacked by a band of roving dogs and survived with some ugly...

    I live in North Florida ... I haven't seen it, but it seems to be something kind of small, since the last bird, the one I had to put down, didnt have big chunks missing out of her, rather, she must have had a bunch of little bites and rips ... it was hard to tell ... I'm a city person trying...

    Thanks All of you for your Posts :) I'll have to see how I scrounge up some way of getting rid of that thing--- I guess I'll try traps first ... Don't want to miss and accidenly hit the neighbor's trailor :)

    oh i didn't mean which was harder to kill.... I meant, I'd rather hav a coyote or owl eat my chickens ... it wouldn't bug me at all and I'd just chock it up to ensuring we have wildlife ... But, I guess since oppossum and racoons can live off garbage the way other things can't, i guess... *shrug*

    I guess I should rephrase that last question -- How accurate is my guess? Should I be looking for a different culprit? And what is effective against oppossum, if that's what it is?
