How do you vacation when you have chickens?

For short trips (3 days or less) we make sure water is filled up, and give lots of extra food). More than that and we need a sitter. We leave the door to the run open so teh girls can go out and in as needed. the run is completely enclosed, as we have lots of predators.

    Hawks and Full grown Chickens?

We have lots o cover, but I still worry about big birds. The hawks will sit on a telephone post next to the run and just watch teh chickens (in the run). We also have owls that hang out nearby at dusk. No casualties yet, we make sure all chickens are in at dusk, and don't let them out unattended.

poll: are you legal or an outlaw?

My city allows 3 (or 4, unclear) animals, including dogs, cats and chickens. We have 2 cats, 3 grown chickens, and just got 5 new chicks.
