Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hello I have a Royal Palm Tom and two hens I would like to rehome. They are a year old and the hens are laying. I would prefer that they not be eaten but provided a good home. I live in Jackson if anyone is interested. Thanks

Hello, I'm looking to rehome about 6 EE roosters. They're roughly 4 months old, and have great color variation. I live in Jackson/Napoleon. If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP for they must go soon. Thanks Jim

Hello I have a question for any of you. I was sitting on my deck this evening when all of a sudden my Royal Palm tom attacked and killed my 1 year old rooster. They have lived together sense chicks and I believe the rooster was attempting to breed a hen when the turkey attacked him. I'm curious...

I have 30 that I hatched out roughly 2 months ago which is in the range your looking for. The bad part is I'm located in Michigan which is a 10 hour drive from Atlanta.

I've actually thought about doing exactly this. The only issue then would be if they are fertile then I'd end up with just a couple poults. It's a fine line we poultry folks walk.

Does anyone here know when do turkey eggs tend to become viable here in Michigan? I have 3 hens, and 1 tom that are almost a year old, and I'm getting eggs daily but unsure if they're fertile. I would like to hatch some poults but want to make sure they're fertile so I'm not wasting eggs. I've...

    March 2017! Hatch with us!

So today will be day 24? The humidity you ran seems to be spot on with what I ran, and got a 90% hatch rate so that obviously isn't the problem as long as you know your hygrometer is accurate. So the only question at this point would be the temperature? If you ran lower than you thought you were...

    February 2017 Hatch-a-long

The rooster with the scissor beak is white with a tad of brown. They actually keep him with three hens that are similar in color to him. The flock I gathered the eggs from have the rooster I showed, and 6 hens that very in multiple colors. Two are of the white with brown but the other four are...

    February 2017 Hatch-a-long

For what it's worth I just finished hatching 27 EEs. None of them were born with the deformed beak, and I was a little concerned about that. We have to separate flocks of EEs at my work and one of the roosters has the beak issue. I only took eggs from the flock that wasn't with that rooster...

I may be interested in an EE rooster. I just hatched 27 EE chicks and I'm sure there will be several roosters in the bunch. I've read not to breed them back with the pullets. So if what I've read is true then I will need a new blood line roo to take care of the pullets once them mature enough to...
