    Automatic Door Closer---Update

Hello, all, I had written a couple of months ago about problems I was having with my "AXT" automatic closer. I've sorted out the problems, haven't lost any more chickens, and thought I'd post my experience and solutions for all to read. 1) The general workmanship of this thing is very good. It...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

I think you're on the right track! The entire front of the unit is clear plastic, so yesterday I used all-weather vinyl electrical tape to slowly occlude more and more of the clear stuff. Finally I had about a one inch strip of clear plastic, and it closed 15 minutes after sunset. I'm sure there...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

I may go with the timer eventually, I am just basically cheap and am kind of miffed at the company for not being more forthcoming on the details of their unit. Almost dusk now, the chickens are in, we will see if the electrical tape darkening will make a difference. One thing I've learned, I...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

Mine is the one that is meant to be mounted outdoors, just above the door. You are correct, the adjustment screw was set all the way counterclockwise when it arrived. What I'm trying is to use all-weather black electrical tape. I have taped all the way around the clear sides of the cover, and...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

Thanks for your fast replies! This board must be well attended! I admit I have been a little confused by "more sensitive" and "less sensitive" to light. Here is what the company says in their instructions: "The adjusting device above pins 5 and 6 (slot marked with an arrow) has been set in such...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

By the way, since I have installed this I have lost 2 birds including our favorite rooster! Beware if you buy this, the thing is going to close WAY after dark, and open WAY before safe light. The coyotes are going to have a field day. Why they can't make this more adjustable is beyond me. Jim

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

There is, indeed, a sensitivity screw. However, it comes turned all the way counterclockwise, which makes it most sensitive to light (i.e., it closes relatively early. The company says it is set to close when it is still fairly light out, which is NOT true) So, the only way you can adjust it is...

    Automatic Door Closer--adjust sensitivity??

Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to chickens. I recently bought one of the UK automatic door closers and love it, "except". The darn thing doesn't close the door until it is fairly dark outside, and worse it opens it at the first crack of dawn. According to their kind of scanty instructions...
