We use wood shavings, the bizarre thing is we bought 6 poults as day olds last summer and all 6 grew to be adults. There is nothing I am doing differently so I am really confused.
We have been breeding and hatching chicks for awhile now and have excellent hatch rates and very rarely do we lose a chick. This year we decided to hatch out ducks and turkeys. As far as hatching we have a 75-85 % hatch rate. We have yet to lose a single duckling "knock on wood" however we lose...
I have called GQF and they don't seem to have an answer. We bought a cabinet incubator and every hatch we've done with it is late by 1 to 2 days. One even spanned 4 days. I have 2 calibrated thermometer in there at all time and they read 100, I have a digital thermometer/hydrometer and that too...
I am a few days away from misting and cooling my goose eggs. Do I take the eggs out of the incubator or just remove the lid? My plan was to remove the eggs and close tha bator up to maintain himidty, but I read a post that said take the lid off and mist them. Then put the lids on after 10 min.
So I decided cut out some small wooden legs and attached them to a small basket which raised the eggs about 3/4-1in. Within a few minutes the temp began to even out on the thermometers. They now read, 98.5, 99.5 and 99.9. Seems like I got it figured out.
I have a hova bator type Styrofoam...
I would leave it be for now, we hatch ducks regularly and I have had 2 get stuck, I left them overnight but had to assist the next day. If there are red veins it has likely not absorbed the blood and all the yolk, patience and hopefully it all turns out okay.
I am hand turner eggs for the first time, I am using a styrofoam hova-bator style incubator. I have 8 eggs6 goose and 2 duck in the incubator with a couple thermometers. As there are slight temperature variances in the incubator should I rotate the eggs position when it turn them?
I am about to attempt Geese eggs and hand-turning them for the first time. We have 6 very expensive eggs. I have read the tutorial (https://bramblewoodhill.com/blog/incubating-hatching-goose-eggs) and I feel ready, I am planning on using my Styrofoam Incubator so I can have a dedicated set up...
I have a GQF cabintet incubator and I buggered up my days, my duck eggs need the turner stoped today and my chicken tomorrow. I am leaning heavily towards stopping all the eggs today that way I do not have to open the door of the cabinet during lockdown.
Thoughts?
Good Morning all, we have 6 purebred polish chickens, A blue roo, a bronze lace roo, a splash hen, a silver laced hen, and buff hen, and a white Crested hen. We have never seen this color pattern before. Any idea what it will come out as?
