i have heard that some hens will lay a double yolk egg. Well today one of hens did! It was 1.5 times the length of a normal egg and almost white.
is it normal for them to have a weak end?
yesterday was day 21, nothing. nothing good anyway one egg was really smelling bad and popped when i picked it up. i candled the other two and only one looks like it might have a chick. how long should i wait?
l won't get discouraged. I have reinforced the week spot that was there by re-buring the bottom of the fence and added pine logs. the trap was outside the pen. i heard somewhere that hair would detur deer from eating a garden so i thought maybe coons or foxes might not come to close if it smells...
I have 3 eggs from rir roo x ausralorp mix hen?(black with green shine but red around head) that i think are due on the 13th. i set then at 9pm on the 21st. this is my first attempt to incubate and hatch anything.
I hope everyone has a good hatch.
i got 50% like mac in abilene grand total of 1 egg. but i've had them for almost a week and the guy i got them from said the group was just starting to lay so i was a little woried but think i just got the late bloomers of the group.
I just bought 2 hens that were supposed to be australorp but look more like sexlink to me. I also wanted a rooster so i could get eggs to hatch. the only one he had available was a nice rir. i'm happy with my purchase but heres my question. What will the offspring turn out like? anyone done this...
i'm planning on creating a solar power station for my coop. solar panel charging a deep cycle battery, dc to ac inverter, lights, and a electric fence to keep out predators! do yall think this will work?
this is not what i wanted my first post to be.
I have a 16 x 16 kennel wire pen with the top fenced over. the bottom is attached to 1 foot chicken wire flat and burried. something found a week spot, dug under, and left nothing but feathers. what should i do to better secure the bottom?
