My brown leghorn, Leggy Legs, has a larger comb than her same age buddies. She was sexed, but I know that isn’t always accurate. My first leghorn so I’m curious. Are we just looking at a normal leghorn with a big comb, or a cockerel?
Thanks!

Sorry, didn’t see this! Tried to get pictures this morning but they were too into their breakfast haha. The better pics are from a couple weeks ago, I think.
Sure, I think I can do that! The poor girl is definitely very lonely. I need to build up the other birds’ run anyways, I can use the existing hardware cloth to build her one. Because honestly I think she’ll die of loneliness at this point. Such a long healing process :(
UPDATE (nearly 5 weeks later)
Copper is slowly getting better! She gets terramycin on the eyes twice a day after I wipe them with the vetramin eye rinse. Also getting a few drops of vetrx in her water daily.
She’s getting very, very skinny and is desperate to be out of her little cage. Knocked...
Entry #2: Poison Ivy
Buff laced polish
Presumed female
~8-9 weeks (~7-8 weeks at time of photo)
Has little personality to speak of, but is a crowd favorite because she’s soooo pretty. I think she looks like the lady eagle in Angry Birds 2. 😂
Entry #1: Two-Face
White crested black
Presumed female
9 weeks old (8 weeks at time of photo)
Passionate about always being in the wrong place at the wrong time, getting underfoot, and not being able to get out of open doors.
Ha that makes sense! I’m over here imagining it like if a chihuahua had to birth Great Dane puppies, except the puppies are enormous eggs in a tiny chicken 😂😂 glad to know the mama wouldn’t have to go through that.
Okay so…. I know that silkie Roos can totally breed with large/voluptuous lady birds…. But what happens when a silkie hen breeds with a larger daddy bird?
Are her little silkie eggs large enough to hold larger baby chicks? Or do they end up being born early or something? Or do the eggs end up...
Let’s play another game of “hen or roo”… advanced (and uncertain) edition!
Two polishes:
“two face,” white crested black - 8 weeks, sold sexed (female) at feed store.
“Poison ivy,” buff laced - 6 weeks, sold sexed (female) at feed store
Two silkies:
“Splash,” lavender/buff splash - 9...
So apparently one of my turken chicks has decided that he is a cockerel.
He is a family favorite (of course) and around 6 weeks old.
I live in (farm) town where I can’t have roosters, but I have a realtor looking for some land for me. I only live on 8000sqft of land, with a section of the...
