When a hen who's in the hen house, along with her boyfriends (yes, she has two) and she's making this higher pitched purring noise, does that mean something? Like maybe she wants to lay? This girl is new to the flock and I've witnessed their um, encounters?? So, I dunno...its a behavior I've...
I live near Traverse City Michigan. And the hens are 2.5 years old. We got them from our neighbor, who got them from his parents because they moved and didn't want to take the chickens with them. They laid daily for his parents. Our neighbor has only had them for a couple of months maybe and...
I've heard that chickens who are stressed, won't lay. These girls are supposedly 2.5 yes old. Someone said they might be done laying. Isn't that a bit young to not lay anymore?
They are rescues. And I have no idea where they actually came from. What breed they are isnt really important, i was just curious. And they aren't laying and I don't expect them to for a while. So I cant tell by egg color.
I had a feeling they were EEs because they look very similar to my other EEs, except for their light coloring, which is what made me think there was a chance they were Ameracaunas.
