Final update: She didn't make it. She seemed like she was doing okay. She was eating and had better energy than what she had been showing but as you all and myself assumed it was probably organ failure. I got home from work last night to find that she was gone.
I'm glad she's not suffering...
Update: SHES EATING HER DUCK FOOD RIGHT NOW!!!!
I took her to the vet yesterday. He drained 300ml of fluid from her. Said that wasn't all but he it could cause really bad dehydration if he took it all. He said it was worth trying antibiotics. She pretty much immediately get some of her bad...
Yea. I've been seeing her standing like that. I didn't initially put too much to it because she does have that spinal deformity so with the weight loss/being ill/under stress that it didn't trigger as odd to me. Especially since when she was a baby she'd have a very upright posture and I'd joke...
I'm in South East Wisconsin. I've always written down when we get our first eggs of the year. As the ducks have gotten older they start laying later and later every year. Darla is 6. She may have laid 2 dozen eggs in total last year. She likely wouldn't start laying until March at the earliest...
.... I haven't taken her in the the vet yet. I tried taking her to an emergency vet they essentially refused to do anything for her. Wouldnt even do a dang X-ray. I thought maybe she was in pain for some reason and did get Meloxicam.
I now suspect a different diagnosis... Ive never heard of...
Update: she's seem to have a little more energy but isn't eating her regular duck food. Will still eat treats. Poops are "bigger" but still mostly water with green in it. Still more quiet.
Continung to give her what ever she will eat.
Continung to give nutridrench in water.
Considering...
She seemed to perk up and was eating the duck chow decently for a while - she's napping now.
I'm wondering if its not stress of some sort. She's been starting fights with one of the younger hens. She's the one that seems to be coming out on top. she's smaller but definitely meaner and the other...
Thanks for that! I keep meaning to get stuff to have on hand if needed.
I will say she's eating decent right now. Her last poop was still watery but appeared to have a bit more substance to it - hard to tell since it was on a towel but you can see more stuff in it. At least
I'm definitely...
I posted a picture below of her poop.
I was thinking about running to TSC to get some electrolytes. Ive heard you can get safeguard at TSC? I don't have any on hand and I don't have baytril - is that something you need to get from a vet?
Since she is interested in treats do you think there...
I was trying to get her weight and she pooped in the bucket I set her in. So able to get a good picture of it.
It's very watery and a sort of grass green color. She did get peas yesterday evening (it's 4pm now) otherwise she hasn't eaten anything green...
