Hatcheries?
We are completely sold on chicks from Murray-McMurray. Shipping to Alaska can be tricky at best but all of our chicks (18) arrived safe on an initial order. The next order was 25 Cornish X and all made it here alive as well and we didn't lose a chick. They may cost a little more but are worth...- jmandawn

Here in Alaska we do need to use supplemental light because of the almost no light.during winter months. MDH found an LED bulb at Lowe's in the 5000k light range (simulates daylight). It only cost $4/year to operate and gives off great light. We have it set on a timer to come on at 6 a.m. and...- jmandawn

Agree completely with Alaskan. In addition to cost if the birds become acclimatized to having heat and we have one of our famous ice storms and lose power for 3 days, it will place extreme strain on them. It could possibly even kill or make sick the younger ones. We are firm believers in...- jmandawn
