Last week, one of my 7 mo. old Delaware hens started walking backwards. It's not a step or so, but 7-10 steps. Then, she'll stop for a second and do it again. She can walk forward, but does this backward thing a lot. Did she fall on her head? Anybody else see this before?
Update: No one would take this guy. And, as it turns out, it would've almost been like giving them a rabid dog. The NHR went from gentle to dangerous and terroristic in a matter of days. He started fighting even with the hens ( no not breeding..fighting). It was like he was crazed or...
I would kill the neighbor with kindness, and meanwhile see how to request a zoning change just for my lot. If chickens are kept legally across the street, this seems reasonable. Where I live it would be a formal request, then it would be published to see if there are any protests against it...
Thanks so much for the advice!! Guess I'll go 1st to see my neighbor, who has 70 chickens free ranging on 6 acres, and see if by any chance she'd take him. Thanks again, I'm getting really tired of refereeing these two..
I've only had chickens 5 months, and need advice from those with more experience! My New Hampshire Red roo, in the last couple of days is in a blind rage toward my Delaware roo! Yesterday, I thought he had killed him. No blood drawn, but the Delaware was trying so desperately to escape his...
Wow Seachick!! What a great presentation! What I really like is that it is so positive. How could officials have turned down such a win-win proposition? Good job!!
From what you're saying, they may have already abolished themselves and just don't know it. Though we have no hoa where we now live, there were covenants in the deed. In the covenants, size of house, distance to build from the road, pigs aren't allowed, no used housing or mobiles, etc were...
We may have no choice on moving to Houston, and I have been appalled at this HOA situation. We are now in a subdivision with 5-10 acre lots and NO HOA. The builder actually forgot to set it up until after many houses were built, so it is essentially ineffective.
Anyway, I have seen nothing...
Alexcritter, I'm a lawyer, but not in NC. Still, I think you're a real trooper, and am crossing my fingers for your success.
As for Cary, I agree with the poster that more preparation was necessary, such as information that other cities address the distances coops should be from homes, and...
It looks to me like Section 4-5 regarding the coops may be referring to coops for peacocks, doves, etc rather than poultry.
Still, if the city attorney has suggested you draft the ordinance, this seems positive. Just come to the meeting with different choices you have gathered, from other...
